Winter Treats

Winter Treats

During the colder months of the year, it can be hard to stay motivated. Not that I would say that I don’t enjoy winter, because I genuinely do, but after a while, it can start to feel quite mundane. For that reason, a few little winter treats here and there can go a long way…

Winter Treats

In July, I received these beautiful flowers as part of a birthday gift from my best friend. They are definitely not my standard choice of pink but that’s actually what I really liked about them; the colours are so vibrant and if you look closely you can see subtle dashes of purple in there. I’m not sure what type of flower they are – Saffron, if you’re reading, help a sister out – but they literally lasted for weeks. Probably not so hard when your house is legitimately fridge temperature.

As you are aware, we received our wedding photos not so long ago, which was a huge highlight of the season for me. In addition to the hundreds of images we received, Chloe was also kind enough to send us some prints as well. They arrived beautifully wrapped in detailed paper and was just that little extra touch I needed. It really lifted my spirits coming home to that one very cold night.

Recently, I have gotten into taking baths. Having lived in a home for almost 2 years with a lovely bath, I don’t know why it has taken me this long to appreciate them. I think it’s because I find it hard to sit still at times, baths can feel very overwhelming in that sense. I have learnt to let myself relax however, and this heavenly bubble bath called Cinnammon Buns by Philosophy has made it all the more easier. The smell is beautiful, it’s warm and fragrant and whenever I feel cold at home, I will often just slip into the tub with this and feel all my troubles fade away. I usually bring my laptop in with me and turn the bathroom into my own personal aquatic lounge room. Ah, the serenity.

Finally, if all else fails, a cupcake or two from The Cupcake Queens never goes astray…

Although spring is now upon us, I’m sure there will be a bit of a transitional period before it truly starts to get warm. In the meantime, what are your favourite winter treats?
