Life In August

Life In August

Life in August was relatively quiet, which seems to be our usual pattern after we’ve had a more busy month. The first couple of weeks of August were spent once again soaking up as much time as possible with Jordan before he – you guessed it – jetted off again on yet another work trip. Read on for my recap of August.

Life In August

It would be an understatement to say that the impact of COVID has been felt by everyone and with the stop-start nature of the restrictions in Australia right now, it’s hard to ever really feel like you can predict how things will go. Earlier in the year we were blessed with several visits from friends and family and now unfortunately, it’s all dried up. This unfortunate reality hit particularly close to home when Jordan’s parents had to cancel their long awaited holiday to Far North Queensland, right around the time Jordan left for a 2 month stint assisting with hotel quarantine in Cairns…

So while I’m feeling a little frustrated with the current state of affairs at the moment, I am grateful for the huge amount of quality time I’ve been able to have with Evie. Jordan being away for so much of this year has not been without its challenges, but I truly believe that there are so many invaluable learning experiences that come from adverse circumstances. Whether it’s solo parenting, or being separated from family – perspective is everything and the cliche definitely rings true that I have become more grateful for what I do have when things get harder.

Now moving on to happier things, like buying a new car! Our beloved red commodore died sometime in April and since Jordan has been away so much this year, we had been surviving on one car up until very recently. During the intermittent periods Jordan was home, we had been frantically scoping out cars on Gumtree and Facebook marketplace and we finally found *the one* a couple of weeks ago. We settled on a 2018 KIA Cerato Sport+, which has been a pretty substantial upgrade for us. I mean, Bluetooth is still a novelty for me, let alone all the other cool features it has! Is it weird that I’ve started dressing nicer since we bought it? No, just me then…

Life In August

Life in August was a little up and down but for the most part, it wasn’t so bad. How was your August? I hope you are navigating through these uncertain times ok. And if you’re not, then that’s ok too.
