We were so grateful to be able to go home for Christmas this year, after spending pretty much all of 2020 in Townsville. I’m sure most of you would agree that Christmas just wouldn’t feel quite right if we weren’t able to catch up with family and friends. We have been soaking up every moment since our arrival earlier this month and our days have been as jam packed as our bellies from all of the Christmas food…
On Christmas Eve we caught up with some friends and family and then had a pretty low key evening at home. Normally we spend Christmas Eve night with my immediate family, but this year it was moved to Boxing Day. I must admit, it was a little strange not doing anything. We went out and looked at Christmas lights though which was a nice way to fill in the time. The biscuits above were made and dropped off by the next door neighbour at Jordan’s parents place. Aren’t they beautiful?
On Christmas morning we went to church with my family and then came home to a beatifully prepared brunch with Jordan’s family. It can be hard to balance multiple family gatherings during the Christmas season, but I think we manage it pretty well.
After brunch it was time for presents! Evie got super spoilt and Jordan and I got to live vicariously through her, which is always fun. She still doesn’t quite get what’s going on but she was definitely more aware than she was last year!
Evie wore her Christmas dress for the occasion which I got on Etsy.
We had a pretty relaxing afternoon and then had Christmas dinner together, followed by my first viewing of Die Hard. I’m not to going to sugar coat it, I was not a big fan…
On Boxing Day I started my morning with a run, in an attempt to do some damage control and stimulate my appetite for round 2. Luckily we had a few hours between meals! We headed over to my sister’s house in the evening for dinner and were met with quite a spread.
Obligatory family photos are my favourite kind of photos.
After a beautiful evening spent outside we indulged in dessert (even though we were more than full). I made this chocolate guinness cake which was pretty good!
If you were able to be home for Christmas, I sincerely you hope your Christmas was as good as ours was. If you were not able to be home due to COVID or for other reasons, I hope your day was still a good one. We are feeling incredibly thankful we were able to be home for Christmas and certainly have a newfound appreciation for being able to travel again. Well, at least for now…
Happy Christmas xxx
