Last Monday we celebrated Evelyn’s first Birthday, a momentous occasion indeed! With no family here in Townsville and restriction laws still in place, we opted to have a small celebration at home with just the three of us. Let’s be real, she’s way too young to fully appreciate a birthday party. That being said, I couldn’t resist getting into the birthday spirit. I mean, it’s a pretty significant milestone, after all…
Even though I had been planning her birthday for weeks, for some reason I still left it to the absolute last minute to get everything ready. I got these cute DIY paper tassels on eBay and spent most of Sunday night putting them together.
In addition to the tassels, I also had a miniature car to construct. Evie’s grandparents had it sent in the mail a couple of weeks prior, so again, I have no idea why I waited so long to do it. Initially, I was insistent on doing it all myself, but naturally, Jordan ended up doing most of the leg work. I did the stickers though, which in my opinion, are pretty crucial to the whole operation.
As for her cake, I opted to make this funfetti layer cake. The sprinkles didn’t really show up once it was baked, but that’s ok. I’m still working on my drip technique but luckily there will be plenty more birthdays to practice my skills!
Naturally, the birthday girl wore pink, as did I!
All up, we had a great day as a family celebrating Evelyn’s first birthday. Birthday cards and presents are still trickling in through the mail which has been a fun way to delay the celebrations. I still can’t believe we have a one-year-old now!
