Christmas Pop

Christmas Pop

In honour of the upcoming festive season, I thought I’d put together a playlist of my favourite Christmas pop songs. Now when thinking about Christmas music, it’s important to note that Christmas music is technically a genre entirely of its own. Firstly, you only listen to it for a month or two of the year. Secondly, Christmas music has a certain sound to it that you just don’t hear in other songs. Sparkly bells, twinkly sounds – you know what I mean! It’s a vibe.

Traditionally I’ve always been a fan of the classics. Bing Crosby was always playing when we’d decorate our tree when I was a child so naturally thats the kind of sound I leant to as an adult. Over the past few years, however, I have learnt to branch out. Being such a huge fan of 2000’s pop music, it was only natural that I would enjoy a Christmas themed variety of that particular sound. And surprisingly, there’s so much good Christmas pop out there. Original Christmas songs in particular – who would’ve thought!?

Some of my favourite Christmas albums. Standouts include Under the Mistletoe by Justin Bieber, Christmas & Chill by Ariana Grande and Let It Snow, Baby… Let It Reindeer by Relient K. (Michael Buble is obviously number one but he doesn’t count.)

After extensive research, I think I finally mastered the perfect Christmas pop playlist. Trust me when I say that not every Christmas pop song made the list – there’s a lot of great songs out there and just as many that don’t deserve to see the light of day.

I hope you enjoy my Christmas pop playlist!! Please let me know if you’ve think I’ve missed any gems. I’ve been playing Christmas music for weeks, but tomorrow you are officially able to crank this in the car without anyone telling you it’s “too early”.
