Hello, 2018! Oh how fresh you feel, how clean your pages are, how mysterious you are. What will this year bring? I love the feeling of not knowing and I am getting so excited for all the endless possibilities that lie in wait.
I figured to kick this year off on the blog, I’d go through some of my resolutions I have for the year. The last few years I’ve been pretty lazy with resolutions, partially because I think a lot of the ones people make (myself included) are much too idealistic, but also because I don’t want to reduce myself to only making goals after Christmas when I am at my most fat and disappointed in myself. This year I decided to make some realistic goals for myself, ones that will be measured in a reasonable way. It’s not all going to happen tomorrow, even though I already feel like I’m 9 days behind! Behold, my New Year’s resolution for 2018.
1. Be More Organized
Having started a new job in early December, I figured it was only appropriate to make a real attempt to be more organised in 2018. I have to admit, I love being in a new role so early in the year, it kind of feels like I’ve started back at school or something! My favourite thing about going back to school was always the new stationary, so you know what that means…
With a new job comes a new routine, one that I’m still trying to figure out. I’ve come to realise that in order for me to successfully master the much-coveted “work/life” balance, I need to be willing to put in some prep work! This year I’d like to start doing a weekly grocery shop (instead of a daily one usually resulting in a roast chicken from Coles) and start planning proper meals.
I’d also like to start using my planner that I bought from kikki.K 3 YEARS AGO. I’d like to pay my bills on time, remember important dates and just generally write more things down. I’ve come to realise it’s a necessity I write things down.
2. Be Better with Money
It’s not hard to save money unless you’re like me and think that spending $5 dollars a day on coffee doesn’t add up to anything. This year I’d like to keep a budget and make myself more aware of where and what I’m spending money on. With a wedding to save for and also you know, maybe a house one day, it’s high time I start tracking where all my spending goes.
3. Consume Less
This is a big one for me, because it’s a bad habit I’ve had for quite some time. It’s quite broad as well, I can apply it to a lot of areas of my life. Because of this, I think of it as being more of a mindset I’d like to change overall. From the pointless things that I spend money on to how much tomato sauce I put on a pie, often it can be quite excessive. I’d like to make the most of what I have or am given, instead of constantly trying to add to it.
4. Look After my Body
Yeah, yeah, I know, I know. As much as it makes me cringe to put this in here, the reality is when I don’t eat well or exercise I feel really crap. While I’m not planning on going paleo again or cutting out fruit, I’d like to find the balance in my eating habits again. For the past few months, I have been really lazy with making good food choices and have definitely been consuming far too much for my size! As for the gym, while I still go, I think there is a real opportunity for me to push myself harder. I want dem gainz!
So there you have it, those are my four resolutions for the year. They’re certainly nothing out of the box but I think they’re pretty good, nonetheless. I hope you have found something that resonates with you in the post and hopefully we can all achieve some of our goals for the year!
