The 2020 Oscars were a couple of days ago and I very much enjoyed scrolling through the red carpet and after-party looks of all the A-list celebrities. I by no means consider myself a fashion expert, but I’m pretty particular about what I like. I may be going against the grain here, but I was not a fan of Billie Eilish’s outfit and to be honest, I’m not really ever a fan of what she wears. Is that the point – that we’re not supposed to like it? I don’t know, but I feel out of touch for saying it. Don’t get me wrong, I see the appeal, she’s incredibly talented. Unfortunately, though, I’m not digging the stupidly long nails, green hair and 6-sizes-too-big clothing that seems to be her signature look.
That being said, there were a few standouts for me, so I thought I would round up my favourite looks of the night. I was particularly fond of Florence Pugh pictured above in Louis Vuitton. What a stunning colour. The style of the dress actually reminds me of a Barbie doll cake, which isn’t a bad thing in my opinion.
Scarlett Johansson is just stunning. I know this Oscar de la Renta outfit wasn’t super popular, but I actually love it. I haven’t been overly impressed with her recent red carpet looks so this was a pleasant surprise for me.
Julia Butter’s all-pink Christian Siriano ensemble is serving as inspiration for a future outfit for Evelyn. What a sweetheart.
Margot Robbie in vintage Chanel actually took a while to grow on me. Initially, I wasn’t sure so about the arm tassels but now I kind of…love them?
Janelle Monae in Ralph Lauren won me over simply because of the heavy Princess Leia vibes. I’m a sucker for a Star Wars reference.
THE AFTER PARTY
Lucy Boynton looks stunning in this dress by Miu Miu. I’m a huge fan of the cotton candy colours.
Nicole Richie in Etro featuring elbow-length gloves. Now this a trend I can get behind.
I am very much a fan of Kate Beckinsale in Zuhair Murad. She’s reasonably covered up but has still been able to accentuate her shape.
Kerry Washington also wore Zuhair Murad and she looks stunning. Very Cleopatra-esque.
It’s hard to look past a redhead in an evergreen dress and the gold details are the cherry on top. Madeleine Petsch is in Elie Saab.
The two-tone, gold sparkles, tulle – this dress is fantastic. Marisa Tomei wears Georges Hobeika.
Finally, I love the simple silhouette of this Schiaparelli dress worn by Ella Balinski,
Did you watch the 2020 Oscars? Which outfit was your favourite?
