Whoah, baby, January is already behind us! The past month absolutely flew by for me, and given the relaxed reputation January has, I was certainly not expecting it to. Keep on reading for my recap of January.
Having been in my new role just shy of two months, it has taken some time to adjust to my new schedule. I spend a lot more time on the road and travel in all directions near and far, to a different store each day.
As I mentioned in my last post, because of my new role I’ve taken it upon myself to be a little more organised during the week. Ladies and gentleman, for the first time in my life, I am pleased to announce that I am actually sticking to my New Years resolutions!
We have been doing a weekly shop on the weekend and I’ve been preparing breakfast, lunch and dinner for the week on Sunday. It sounds like a lot of work, but it’s honestly not. It has made life during the week so much easier (especially on nights when I get home late) and it means I’m sticking to my goal of eating better because all the work has already been done. That’s two resolutions for the price of one.
(Also side note, when I first started this blog at age 17, I never would have dreamed in a million years that I’d be writing posts about weekly shops and meal prep. Oh well, times have changed.)
Anyway, I’m thinking I might share some of the recipes I’ve been using at some stage, so stay tuned…
On New Years Day, Jordan and I headed to Macedon Regional Park for a bit of a looksy. Being the first day of 2018 and all, I found it necessary to don my tightest fitting activewear and go for a hike because a) new year, new me and b) I needed to feel that tight pinch of my leggings to kick start my healthy eating after Christmas. We’ve been there a couple of times, but it’s such a huge park that it really deserves at least a day spent there. The memorial cross pictured above is also there, it’s huge.
January was also super busy for us as we’ve been planning our wedding! I never thought of myself as someone who would have a long engagement and as I’m a woman over 25 I kind of, maybe, already started planning it before we got engaged… Things have been running surprisingly smoothly thus far, I’m kind of starting to wonder what all the fuss is about? But hey, there’s always opportunity for things to go horribly wrong…Just kidding!
Weekend treats like these have been getting me through the week days, french toast is officially our new favourite breakfast. I make a mean french toast if you’re wondering.
Monday night catch ups with my best friend are the best! Hopefully, there are more to come in the coming months.
For the most part, January has been fairly hot, which has been a nice change. We spent Australia Day sitting on outdoor chairs in a kiddie pool (straya), playing volleyball (turns out I’m way too competitive for my skill level) and eating cobb loaf that I made for the first time. So good.
A few days afterwards Victoria had its usual cool change, so we had to rug up. Wallace didn’t seem to mind.
