After a restful day in Croatia, we felt adequately prepared for a 3 massive days at Ultra Music Festival Europe. We spent the afternoon pre-drinking and snacking which is our usual pre-festival ritual!
On Day 1 we headed in at about 6pm and battled our way through hoards of people to get inside the stadium. For such an amazing event, unfortunately, the Europe leg of the festival was extremely poorly organised. The security was lax and the intensity of the crowd was actually quite scary at times, especially when it came to climbing up and down the stairs to get to the base of the arena. I have never been squished between so many people in my life and hope I never will be again. Aside from that though, the festival was incredible.
On the first night we saw Martin Garrix, Nicky Romero, Above & Beyond and Hardwell. The standard was high and to my pleasure, remained that way for the entire 3 days.
Top, necklace, sunglasses, Sportsgirl; shorts, Angel Biba
After arriving home at about 6am, we slept all morning and got up at about 2pm, ready to do it all over again!
This time we headed out for dinner before the festival and found a beautiful restaurant by the water. When we asked the waiter for a bottle of wine he looked at us knowingly and said “Are you going to Ultra? I will get you something strong”.
Needless to say, he did.
Day 2 was definitely the most memorable (or not) for us, and I distinctly recall being on someone’s shoulders, unaware that he was in fact on someone else’s shoulders! I guess I can tick THAT off the bucket list. On this night we saw Knife Party, Sebastian Ingrosso, David Guetta and Armin van Buuren.
The next day we crashed hard and it was a real struggle to get geared up for one last day. We persevered though, nothing was going to come between me and that festival.
W & W, Andrew Rayel, Alesso, Tiesto and Steve Aoki finished off Day 3 for us. We ended up spending most of the evening sitting in the bleachers as our bodies were too weakened to dance much. Luckily, the combination of lights and music was phenomenal; and even sitting down it was the perfect way to close 3 jam-packed days.
The next day we did literally nothing and it was perfection. After a full day of lazing around desperately flicking channels on the TV for something in English, we decided to head down to the water at dusk
The water was very clear and if you look closely you can just make out the city of Split in the distance.
