Lilac Attack

August 3, 2018

I cannot explain the feeling of sheer wonder I experienced when I recently visited Witchery’s flagship store at Chadstone. The reason for my excitement being, the entire front of their store was a lilac explosion. From the racks to the mannequins, all I could see was lilac. As a big fan of teaming pastels with pastels, it was a dream come true to see it all come to life in front of me.

Ever since that rainy Tuesday last week, I have started to notice this particular lilac trend popping up everywhere. From the fitted dresses at Dotti – I must admit, I don’t really shop there – to the laid-back silhouettes at Glassons, lilac is all I’m seeing and I ain’t mad about it one bit.

Not that I need an excuse to wear pastels, but it does help when it’s so accessible and affordable. The pieces from H&M especially are very tempting…

What colour gets you in the feels? I hope that if you don’t normally wear pastels that you give lilac a go. It’s so cute for spring (which still feels very far away) but also a good transitional colour too. Especially the lightweight knits!

Black Friday Weekend Sales

Black Friday Weekend Sales

With talk of all the Black Friday weekend sales currently flooding my instagram, email, and twitter I figured it was high time I actually looked into what all the fuss is about. Despite Black Friday being a traditionally American shopping day, the rest of the world (including Australia) has decided to jump on the bandwagon. I’m definitely not complaining!

So with Christmas (!!!) coming up and sales running all weekend, I decided to put together my top picks from ShopBop and Net-A-Porter. ShopBop currently have 30% off full-priced styles and Net-A-Porter have up to 50% off styles. If you’ve had your eyes on any designer pieces (like I have) now is definitely the time to purchase.

These are only a few of the sites currently slashing their prices and most retailers in Australia seem to be running in-store promotions as well, hence why I plan on doing the bulk of my Christmas shopping tomorrow.

I hope you find something you like!

Elegant in Emerald

September 25, 2017

I first noticed this beautiful emerald green shade in a store earlier this year, but now it seems like everywhere I look all I see is emerald. It’s a such an elegant colour and I think it’s perfect for the awkward transitional weather we’re currently experiencing!

The thought of wearing a beautiful silk shirt or dress in this shade has me excited to start planning future nights out, right down to the gold jewellery I could pair with it. While I think this colour is definitely more suited for the evening, there is real potential to work one of the more flowy styles from a day event to night – perhaps an afternoon engagement party or 30th birthday?

My favourite piece is the striped shirt from Kookai, what’s yours? Can you see yourself in this colour? I’d love to know your thoughts!

Always Thinking Pink

As mentioned on here several times, when it comes to purchases, I find myself always thinking pink. Sometimes I have to actively tell myself not to buy the pink version of whatever it is, because it’s not the most…grown up of colours. That being said, to this day I still regret not buying the baby pink version of a blanket instead of the mature turquoise edition I ended up with.

In summary, I’m no longer taking my own advice.

Melbourne Cup Carnival 2014: Style Guide

With the Melbourne Cup Carnival now in full swing, it’s time to sort out your outfits! This year I am going to two events, my local cup in Geelong and Oaks Day in Melbourne. I have never been to a Melbourne racing event before, so I’m really excited to get all dressed up and hit the track! In celebration of racing season, I’ve put together a little style guide for three of the main events. Hopefully you can find some inspiration, as it can be a really difficult thing to shop for!

First up is The Melbourne Cup, which is all about bright colours, bold prints and statement making silhouettes. Experiment with fun accessories and don’t be afraid to try something a little out of your comfort zone! Check out these dresses at Beginning Boutique.

The Derby Day dress code may be traditional black and white, but that doesn’t mean your outfit has to fall short! White lace is a great option for this event as well as quirky prints and unique shapes. Go for something chic over classic, Dissh have a great selection.

Oaks Day – otherwise known as Ladies Day – is all about embracing your femininity. Midi dresses and skirts are a hot on trend MUST for keeping it classy, try a block colour or fun print. Florals are also great for keeping to the theme and anything that you can twirl in gets my tick of approval! Check out Showpony for more ideas.
