To celebrate Gemma Ward’s triumphant return to the modelling world, I couldn’t help but go on a little binge. The height of Gemma’s career was right around the time that I first started becoming interested in fashion, so when I look at old editorials and runway shots, I can’t help but be taken right back to that exact phase in my life. I love how relevant a lot of these images are; which really goes to show that style is timeless.
It seems kind of strange to me that I can be so fascinated with a model, but she really does transform into a completely different person in every shoot I’ve seen. She tells a story, and I believe every word.
The below is a series of photos from Vogue UK, July 2006 and remains to be one of my favourite editorials she’s done. As much as I love her all dolled up, somehow I feel like this is closer to the real Gemma, just a young girl from Perth, Western Australia.
