WHERE IT ALL STARTED…
Hi there! My name is Marnie and I’m a fashion and lifestyle blogger originally from Victoria, Australia. I have been blogging for over a decade now, and since 2009, It’s A Dull life has been the place I always come back to; my online nesting place.
My blogging journey began way back in July 2008. I was seventeen years old and in my second last year of high school. It was at a time where Myspace was where I spent the majority of my time, and after realising that there was only so much I could edit on my profile, I started experimenting with the idea of finding another place to channel my creativity. One rainy Sunday afternoon I finally decided to bite the bullet and created a blog. It turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. After a little experimentation with my first blog, It’s A Dull Life was officially born in April 2009. Still seventeen and in my last year of high school, my desire to document my inspirations was at an all-time high. I am happy to say, I still feel the same way today.
It’s A Dull Life is – and always has been – a place for me to post my visual inspirations. As my blog has expanded, my love for ‘treasure hunting’ has only grown stronger; but as I have grown, so too has my confidence in my own personal style. It’s A Dull Life is the home to my creative spirit – here you will also find outfit snaps, travel stories, my styling work and everyday musings.
I pride myself on sourcing and producing only the highest quality images and love to tell stories through what I post. For more information on the content of my site, please read my disclaimer.
As a creative at heart, it was only natural that it would translate into my work life as well. After 7 years of working in the retail industry as a visual merchandiser, I stopped finger spacing hangers at the end of 2018 in preparation for a new role: motherhood. I am now happily a full-time stay-at-home mum to our daughter, Evelyn.
My husband, Jordan and I were married in May 2018, it was one of the best days of our lives. We currently reside in Townsville, QLD, after moving here in January, 2019.
On the weekends we love to take our deerhound, Wallace for walks through the North Queensland tropics, catch up with friends for BBQ’s and attend our local Church.
I was raised in a Christian home and made the decision to follow Christ when I was around 7 years old. While I would never say that I ever strayed from my faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, I definitely hit a rough patch during my late teens-early 20’s. Around the time I started this blog actually. I spent a long time thinking I knew everything about the world, more importantly, I thought I was capable of making decisions for my own life – without consulting God. When I did, and I didn’t like what he had to say, I ignored him. It took me a few years to recognise the true error of my ways and I am so thankful that the Creator of the universe actually took the time to pull me back in line. He never forgot about me. He never gave up on me. I have Him to praise for every blessing he has bestowed on my life; the roof over my head, the food in my pantry, the job I have and most of all, my incredible husband and daughter whom I love with all my heart.
